Personal Best Nutrition - http://www.personalbestnutrition.com/
One of the great things about PBN is that instead of locking RATS into a deal with only PowerBar or only Clif Bar, RATS can pick and choose from virtually every option on the sports nutrition market. PBN carries products from Hammer, GU, clif, PowerBar, Endurox, G-Push, Carb-BOOM, Extran, and more and more! With already competitive prices on key products like Endurox, the 10% discount is a great deal.
Personal Best Nutrition is a web-based sports nutrition company owned by dedicated age-grouper triathlete, Brian Shea. PBN offers RATS a 10% discount on all orders. Additionally, PBN will offer a special deal of 25% off a group order in excess of $500. This special offer is available only on a single, member-only order and offered only on the two days of each year when NBC airs the Ironman Hawaii race coverage (traditionally late November and early July).

Tri-DC is the first and only periodical dedicated exclusively to multisport in the Mid-Atlantic region. Tri-DC can be found in stores throughout southern Maryland, the District of Columbia, and northern Virginia.
TRI-DC generously gives the club copies of their magazine. The club sends the copies out in the new member packets and gives them out at socials and training events.
The Triathlon Swim School
10% OFF classes for club members!
The Triathlon Swim School offers small group classes (6-10 athletes) on stroke technique and race strategy for triathletes, aspiring triathletes and any other endurance athletes wanting to learn to swim better (meaning more efficiently AND faster!). The off-season IS the time to work on your technique if you want to swim faster next season. Classes will meet 2-3 times per month so you can get some consistent practice throughout the off-season but are not committed to every weekend. There will be a Saturday afternoon class and a Sunday AM class offered for the winter session at the beautiful George Mason Aquatic and Fitness Center. These classes are for anyone except pure beginners and highly seasoned veterans. The learning environment is fun and definitely not the usual “drill, drill, drill” that you may have encountered before. It will also include some dry-land strength and flexibility to support your swimming stroke, mental strategies and “body care” techniques like use of massage balls and foam rolls for self massage.
For those of you who don’t know me (Cindy Eckert), I have been involved with swimming my entire life, starting at 10 yrs old when my coach had the 10 y/o kids pair up with the 8 y/o kids for 1-on-1 lessons. Since then I have swum competitively for decades, from the junior national level to NCAA Division 1 to Masters to a 15 year triathlon career. I have coached with US Swimming clubs, Masters Swimming, and most recently have done 1-on-1 work with triathletes for about 10 years. I picked up a masters degree in exercise physiology along the way, am a “formerly certified” (USAT) triathlon coach, and have recently learned some very cool mental “flow” techniques from a former Australian freestyle ski coach. In my “day job”, I am Senior Trainer for a progressive personal training company in McLean where I have been for 14 years, teaching and coaching clients from elite athletes to rehab clients to be more fit, healthy and just move better. I am fascinated with human movement and have been learning a few new sports lately (rock climbing and kayaking) to help me understand the learning process better… So, I do have a few tricks up my sleeve.... I believe in teaching my swimmers to own their bodies and learn to really feel the water and move dynamically, not just do the same old drills…

P.S. I am also planning to do a class on functional strength, flexibility and dynamic movement for the off-season, probably on Wed evenings once I find a location. Plz give me a shout if you think you might be interested in this class as well. Thanks!

The Sock Guy - http://www.sockguy.com/
The Sock Guy was introduced to RATS by Dave Glover. When Dave was a PowerBar Elite sponsored athlete, he received some new PowerBar socks, customized by the Sock Guy. Dave went on to win the Duke Blue Devil Ironman race in these socks, breaking 9 hours. Of course, the socks didn't win the race, but they certainly didn't get in the way! Which, when it comes to socks, is not always the case. Sadly, Dave's stint at PowerBar ended, so we decided to go straight to the source.
RATS will place a order for custom socks toward the end of 2003. These socks will be part of the renewal schwag and additional pairs will be available for $5/pair.
Of course, RATS members can choose any number of the cool Sock Guy designs. Choose from fireballs, polka-dots, flowers, flags, smiley faces and more. And yes, you can even buy socks stitched with "Bitch."
In addition to socks, The Sock Guy offers other products such as shirts, beanie caps, gloves, and hats.
The Sock Guy sponsors RATS with a pro-deal for 2003 season. Pro deals offer special pricing at specific times during the year on group orders. During the year, RATS can place two orders for socks and other items at special club prices. For example Sock Guy's socks usually retail for $9.95; RATS members get them at $4.25.

In addition to real estate sales, Boofie has been active in the Reston community, both as a volunteer and a patron of the local athlete community. Heck, she even has a picture of triathletes on her website (down toward the bottom).
Boofie generously made a significant cash contribution to RATS. Because of her support, RATS can maintain the cash reserves necessary to offer our members even more benefits. And, obviously, she can sell your house for top dollar (as she has done for many, many RATS).
Team Z - http://www.triteamz.com/

Team Z prides itself in being a community of triathletes that is unbounded by age, ability, or differentiation in individual goals or focus.
Whether you are interested in beginning triathlon programs or are dreaming of crossing the Ironman finish line, the Team Z community is ready to help you.
Team Z has made a generous cash donation to RATS, allowing us to maintain cash flow and make some infrastructure imporovements. Coach Ed has made it a point to support the local tri community as whole, and we appreciate his support.
