Okay, I actually rode 54 miles on my ride - time reported is only for the 35 mile Reston Bike Club portion of my ride. |
Race Report:
I headed over to the start later than I'd have liked to - and averaged 14.5 mph, which is actually good for me these days, particularly since I opted to ride the lesser (heavier) of my road bikes at the last minute. I squeezed out more mileage today by riding to and from and leaving my car at home, for a total distance of 54 miles (86.4K). I actually skipped the post ride picnic, opting to keep riding (although I did make a chai pit stop at the 'Bucks in RTC, stare at the fountain, and eventually pop over to get my t-shirt and RBC water bottle before heading back out on the trail.) Sadly, this is the longest distance I have ridden in rather a long time. I used to ride every day. But sometimes feeling like a slug is a good thing that helps us want to go try harder.
