Race Report:
The course is new and has a great finish along the ocean-front boardwalk. Generally speaking the course is flat and open. It lends itself to faster times. As I was running, I thought (in a good way) this is just like running on a treadmill except with refreshments, spectators and better scenery.
The best part of my race was however that for a large part of the course, I happened to be running with the women's leader. To any spectator, I am just another tired-looking guy, but everyone cheers wildly for the first female (and rightfully so). It makes it much easier to keep pace when many people cheering for the person next to you.
Overall, the Shamrock Marathon is a well-run and enjoyable marathon, and a good way to start the triathlon season.
