Race Report:
Bleh... bad race because I just finished my last build week for Columbia. The brick on Thursday after work (an hour bike strength sprint intervals - e.g. heavy wheel and pushing hard - followed immediately by a hilly 45 minute run) killed me. My quads were clearly tired during the 25 minute pre-race warm up. A smart person would have thrown in the towel and gone home or run the race slow.
The actual race was ok, I didn't feel like I was going to throw up before the finish line like I normally do. However, I knew when I passed the first mile and the watch said '7:10' that it just wasn't my day. Oh well. It was a hilly course but I know it well since I live off it, so it's a bit unfortunate. But Columbia is one week later and that's a lot more important to me. For the 48 hours following the 5k my quads burned like no other. :( On the other hand, I received a gift certificate to Glory Days, where plenty of terribly un-nutritious food awaits :)
