Comment: Where did my legs go?

Race Report:

Day two found me shaking the tequila fog from my brain and slowly getting ready for day two. Everything was shaping up to be another perfect day when I heard the water temperature was 76 degrees and wetsuits were legal. Damn! Mine was at home. Someone offered me theirs and I almost took it but figured it wouldn't help that much.

Swim: 16:07 11/25

Yeah. Should have borrowed the suit. Oh well!

Bike: 52:12

So I gained time on the bike but rode signicantly slower than the day before. I really just didn't have the legs. Normally they get tired going up the hills but they feel strong as soon as I'm done with the hill. Today they were tired even going downhill. Either way I was happy I chose to do this race because a second day riding on the course was worth it. Again this course was awesome.

Run: 23:22

I saw a big C on the leg of a guy in front of me and I did everything I could to catch him but I just didn't have it. He ended up beating me by like 20 seconds. The first place guy was just under a minute ahead of me. Stupid Wetsuit. Live and learn. Always come prepared. It's much easier to bring my wetsuit and not need it.

Overall I'd say the best part of this race weekend aside from the fantastic course was the chance to chat with so many people on the course. On Saturday I felt like I knew every third person I ran by. There were more people there than any Saturday rats ride. I met a ton of new people as well. Friends of friends and work friends. Too many to count. What a great time. Now I just hope we have as many out at Savageman.

For those of you that were racing elsewhere can't wait to hear about your adventure. For those of you I raced with at Luray I'm looking forward to your take on all the events of the weekend.
