Race Report:

300 yard swim, 17.8 mile bike, 2 mile run

Race Report:

Warm up: Since this is my first triathlon ever, I decided it would probably be a good idea to warm up in the pool beforehand. I've never done a snake swim before, so it was interesting getting used to going under the lane lines.

Swim: 3:45 (1:15 per 100)
T1: 2:26
Bike: 52:25 (20.4 per mile)
T2: 1:31
Run: 15:33 (7:47 per mile)

Total time: 1:15:30.8

Swim: I was the 7th seed, but the first two swimmers never showed, so I was 4th in the water. Pretty uneventful other than this was the first time I've had 200 people cheering me on. It helped motivate me and push me to go faster than I had done while training.

T1: Went smooth, 3rd out of the water but 2nd out of transition.

Bike: Didn't start out well, I missed my turn onto Spring Street and went 10 seconds the wrong way down Monroe. I hear behind me "Come back! You missed the turn!" Guess they weren't ready for us yet, lost probably :20 there but not a big deal. Started drizzling / raining about 5 miles in, I was glad I wore sunglasses because I wouldn't have been able to see a thing. Kept a solid pace throughout even though I was passed by a few guys on tri bikes. May be time to start looking seriously at a tri bikes.

T2: Smooth, but could've been a little faster.

Run: Legs felt surprisingly good but a little worn. I went a little heavy on the bike so the first few hundred yards were used to shake out the lactic acid. I sprinted through the final 100 yards to cross the finish.

I was happy with my results for my first tri, but my run needs some work. My next race is the General Smallwood Oly on June 29th, so hopefully I'll have a little more for the run by then.
