Race Result
Race Report:
All was well pre-race until I got to the dock. OMG -- No chip! I dash back to T1 to get it, but it isn't to be found. Back to dock. RD gives me substitute chip and I start one wave back. Panicked is not the best way to start a race.
Swim was like swimming in YooHoo with the occasional stick. It certainly was not as bad as feared. I did my normal lousy job of sighting and zig-zagged my way around the course. Must practice sighting.
T1 was sloooow. My substitute chip had no strap. After the wetsuit wresting match, I wasted more time getting my extra chip-strap from my bag and putting it on.
Bike was pretty good: 22.2mph avg. I'm amazed I didn't flat given some of the potholes I hit.
T2 uneventful.
Run was great. I finished 30sec above my 10k PR run time after swimming and biking. Wow! I think it is time to do another 10k to set a new PR.
Dispite the rocky start, I'm very pleased with my race. It was a PR for true Oly distance. Post race, I found my chip where I had been stretching pre-race. I must have knocked it off then or when I put my wetsuit on.
