Another end of year PR |
Race Report:
Found this race at 6 a.m. this morning and decided to run my 3rd last minute weekend race in a row to gauge my end of year fitness. The weather was a brisk 35F, 50+ ran the 5k and another 50+ ran the 10K. 5K was one loop around Haines Point, which has a grade of 0.0000.
Ran as hard as I could, discovering in the process that my maximum heart rate is at least 195 (finishline), not the 188 I get from using the age formula. AHR was 184, pace was 7:25. Left knee bothered me a bit again, I'm thinking it may be due to my poor breast stroke form during my masters swim classes. My goal was to finish under 24 minutes, but as I approached the finish line I gave an extra push and ended up 1 second short of breaking 23 minutes.
Fun time, hopefuly setting myself up to run a faster 5K next year during a sprint triathlon.
