Name: Nicholas Begelman
Location: Vienna, VA
Age Group: Male 50 - 54
About Me: I did my first tri in 2001, then did other stuff for a couple years, getting back to triathlons in 2004. I've done a mixture of sprint and olympics.
What I do to pay the bills: Manager at AOL
Who defends the ranch when I'm out training: My lovely wife Lori
Short term triathlon goals: Improve my base in all three "disciplines"
Long term triathlon goals: Complete a 1/2 Ironman when I'm 40
Fantasy triathlon goals: Finish a full Ironman (someday)
Three favorite albums: Any album by the Barenaked Ladies
Live 2003 by Coldplay
Half Pint by Mike Golay (a co-worker of mine)
Favorite book: Airframe by Crichton
Favorite movie: Do I have to list just one? My top ones currently include: Ronin, Princess Bride, The Thomas Crown Affair (with Brosnan)
Chocolate: Dark over milk, at least lately
Garlic: Of course
Blue Cheese: Not really
For breakfast, I usually have: Cereal and fruit with soy milk
After a long day of training, my favorite meal is: Above all else, something cold to drink (regardless of the weather). Usually, I have a protein bar right away and some pita with peanut butter/jelly when I get home. But, to be completely honest, Chinese food - Moo Shu Chicken, General Tso's Chicken.... :-)
My best triathlon advice is: A short workout is better than none at all.
My best non-triathlon advice is: Don't let technology take away from time with friends and family.
What was I thinking when I signed up for my first race: I can barely swim across the pool, am I insane?
Everything I need to know I learned from: My wife and kids
My deepest, darkest secret is: Let me get back to you on this one... ;-)
