Comment: I love those downhills!!!

Race Report:

What a fun race! We were lucky to have cool temperatures and an overcast sky. Yes, Columbia is hilly and it was slow going on the uphills, but you could really fly on the downhills. WooHoo! It was a nice change from the completely flat 56 mile ride at White Lake.

Swim: Water temp was 68. It didn't feel cold to me at all with my sleevless long wetsuit. The water was calm and the field spread out nicely at the start. There were a few swimmers from mine and earlier wave starts who were zig-zagging all over the place which slowed me down several times. I was pretty happy with my swim though and came out at 30:05 (I still need to work on the swim).

Bike: Go up, go down, go up, go down. Repeat over and over for 25 miles. But the downhills were a blast! I finished the bike in 1:33.55 (I need help here, you fast biker guys!)

Run: Yippee! Yes, the uphills sucked, but remember what goes up, must come down. It stayed overcast and relatively cool for the run as well and I finished the 10k in 54:46.

Columbia is a great race and I will definately do it again next year!

I am looking forward to doing the relatively flat Lake Montclair Oly at the end of June, where I will try to break the 3 hour mark.
