Race Result
Race Report:
The water temp was about 64 degrees...one of my coldest swims yet. But it was good training for Alcatraz, which I'm doing in August. I wore a shortie wetsuit and I was pretty cold, but it was still do-able. I had planned to wear a neoprene cap, but didn't end up wearing it.
I panicked really bad in the start of the first race, so I just swam the first 50 meters or so with my head out of the water. I think it helped me get a calmer start.
I didn't mind the swim itself too much, but really hated doing it just an hour after the 1-mile swim. I never really got a chance to get warm in between races.
There were a lot of people with mild and not-so-mild hypothermia in the medical tent, but they were being well taken care of by the staff.
