Much better than the day before. Dug deep and won my AG! |
Race Report:
Swim: 12:23 (21) T1: 1:41 (30) Bike: 50:48 (25) T2: 00:56 (28) Run: 22:11 (37)
I felt much better on this race than the longer International the day before. I guess I can gut through short pain, but the specter of pain for 6 miles was too much for me this year. I need to train through that type of pain more (I often stopped on runs this year).
The swim felt great. Got out ahead of the pack and stayed there.
The bike also felt great despite the hills that hurt again. Only one loop helps on that. I went a bit cautiously, though, due to the damp conditions.
The run felt better than the day before. Don't get me wrong, I left it out there and it hurt, but knowing it would be over in 3 miles allowed my brain to push through. I gritted my teeth to a 7:09 pace and won my age group! It felt really good to pick up the hardware for both the double and the AG victory, especially after the disappointing race the day before.
