Race Report:

Pretty much got what I deserved.

Swim course: This is a new swim course for Silverman. Overall, it's a great venue, except for the exit which is a bit steep after 2.4 miles of swimming.

I had a solid swim, but a I was a little worked at the end 6th out of the water (not counting some fast relay swimmers).

An already hard bike course is now a bit harder due to course changes required by the move of the swim. There are a few more hills--actually, there are the same number of hills, but the first hills of the old course are doubled-up. On the up side, the road quality is now nearly perfect for the whole race. All in all, I like this bike course better than the old course even though it's harder.

I had a better ride this year than last year, but much slower at 6:55. I rode easy the entire time and, because I left my watch in T1, had no idea on my time. When I left T2 I thought I'd ridden for 7h15 ... that's what I get for doing math during an Ironman.

The run course remains its hilly bad-ass self. It sucked for me. I walked about 10 miles of the course. I didn't have that much run training and I was content to simply move without pushing myself that hard. It was great to see Frosty mixing it up at the front of the race. As I walked into one aid station I saw him running, deep in the focus that is part of *racing* an Ironman. So I grabbed a Coke and a water. Frosty ran by yelling Coke! Coke! and I yelled back, HERE! Frosty grabbed the coke and did a double-take ... and was gone before he realized exactly what happend. He had good reason for pushing, he was fighting hard to maintain second place (1s overall AG) at mile 19.
