The bus ride from Boston to Hopkinton is long. Really long. Like, much, much longer than anyone should be stuck on a bus with a full bladder. Every time I've taken the bus out to Hopkinton, during the last few miles of the ride, half the bus is practically in tears from having to pee so much. You'll have several hours in Hopkinton to overhydrate. You'll be a much happier camper if you don't start your binge drinking before you get on the bus.
The "Athletes' Village" in Hopkinton is really just a big field behind a school. Pay attention to the weather, and take whatever you might need to be comfortable while sitting on the ground outside for a few hours.
Aid stations can get very crowded. First, there'll be an aid station on the right side of the road, then, 100 meters later, there'll be another one on the left. It can be difficult to get over to the right to get water, since that's where everyone wants to be. Whenever I get to a water station that's on the RIGHT, I go to the LEFT side of the course, so that I'll be in a good spot to get water 100 meters up the road.
